Piaget Altiplano watch
Ever since it created its first ultra-thin movements at the start of the 1960s, Piaget has always refined its delicate treasures into exceptional timepieces, thus enhancing the two specialisations at the heart of its Manufacture: Haute Horlogerie and Haute Joaillerie. Gem-setting a luxury watch is a demanding art that involves numerous constraints. An ultra-thin watch only allows for the tiniest of tolerances in order to preserve the volume of its lines and the volume of its case. The thinness of the materials thus leaves only a minimum space in which the stones can be set. The Haute Joaillerie version of the Altiplano 38 mm 900P watch achieves a new record in thinness, since it is quite simply the thinnest Haute Joaillerie watch in the world, with a thickness of only 5.65 mm. Its diamonds take part in a subtle interplay of styles, with baguette-cut on the bezel and brilliant-cut diamonds adorning the lugs and the middle of the case. On the dial, the hour circle is formed by a ring of baguette-cut diamonds. Piaget takes its attention to detail even so far as to ensure that the screws on the bridges and gear-trains are gem-set. A true jewellery watch even in its tiniest details, this model also features delicate gem-setting on the folding clasp of its alligator-skin strap, thus adding the final touch of perfection to a timepiece conceived to be exclusive in the extreme.
